STORY & CONTENT BY: @lilandjake | LOCATION: Trout Creek, TAS
This spot is a gem. Just up the Scamander River on Tassie’s east coast, Trout Creek is one of our favourite secluded camps! You’re tucked right into the trees with the river running beside you, super peaceful and proper off-grid.
It’s the perfect place to launch the tinny and cruise downstream for a pub lunch at the Scamander Beach Resort, then motor back up and throw a line at camp. As the name says, you may get lucky and catch a trout!
Whether it’s flipping off the rope swing in summer or roasting marshmallows by the fire, it’s perfect for all year round.
Also a great base if you’re into dirt bikes or quad bikes, there are some cracking tracks nearby and few around to bother you.
If you're heading up the east coast of Tassie and want a quiet spot away from the crowds, you absolutely cannot go past Trout Creek!
TOP TIPS
- 4WD recommended (track is gravel and can get rough)
- Bring firewood and mosquito spray
- Pack the rods and bikes, you’ll use both
